Visa has rolled out a new AI-powered system that aims to stop fraud before it happens — by analysing patterns and flagging suspicious transactions as they occur. The tool, called Visa Account Attack Intelligence (VAAI), is designed to detect card testing attacks and other scams in real time.
According to Visa, AI now plays a major role in protecting consumers. Their system looks for abnormal behaviour, such as a high number of failed payment attempts — which could mean a fraudster is testing stolen card details. Once flagged, these attempts can be blocked instantly, helping to prevent large-scale fraud before any money changes hands.
This kind of real-time fraud detection is becoming more common as payment companies harness AI to fight increasingly sophisticated scams.
