It’s running factories, helping to drive cars, churning out chart-topping music and eye-catching art. It can answer your questions, spark new ideas, and—if you fancy it—chat philosophy over a cuppa. Some say it’s a breakthrough. Others say it’s a threat. But one thing’s for sure: it’s not waiting around. So what is AI, really? And should we be excited or alarmed?

Having been born in 1942, I’ve lived through more technological changes than I can count—from the first televisions to the dawn of the internet. But nothing has moved as fast as Artificial Intelligence. The pace of progress isn’t just yearly or monthly—it’s daily, and it’s reshaping the way we live, work, and think.
